Funny Moment, facebook, & dental issues

Gabe watching Ice Age 2 with the family says "Mom that mammoth is GREEN!" I said "No, it isn't" Had a 5 minute argument over the color of the mammoth. For the record, it was BROWN. I guess the color receptors are starting to lag...

The March for Life went well, Gabe was able to "talk story" with a few people and show off his display board. A couple of the people he spoke too were also dealing with eye issues. He had a good time and it was a good experience for him.

Created a facebook community page with the same name as this blog. Please check it out and add it to your page favorites if you do the facey spacey thing...Share with your friends.

Gabe has a dental appointment next week where I will be discussing with the Dentist the possibility of Gabe's teeth abnormality being linked to CRD. Apparently, there is a genetic tooth abnormality associated with the same gene mutation that results in CRD. More info to come...Still researching and awaiting the outcome of his visit. The reason for concern being that just prior to his CRD diagnosis, the Dentist discovered strange pits or circular holes in several of Gabe's teeth. The enamel was breaking down in strange patterns. This is now believed to be linked...Guess we will find out soon enough.

Hawaii March for Life, January 22nd

January 22, 2011, Saturday, Hawaii State Capitol Grounds, Live stream by HICTv. Pro-Life sign-waving & entertainment begins at 10:30 a.m. Keiki Fun Activities begin at 11:00 a.m. Program begins at 12:00 noon: Gabe will be at the Hawaii Helps Disabilities (HHD) table, talking story about his eye disease & showing his display board. Come out & show him some support folks!

I am so proud of Gabe! He is going to put himself in the public eye for the first time, talking about CRD!!! He won't be up on a stage with a mic or anything, but this is a very important first step towards raising awareness for all peoples in Hawaii with visual impairments!

Also, HHD is seeking donations of audio books on tape, CD, mp3, magnifying devices, and audio reader machines for our future resource lending library for the visually impaired. All donations will be tax deductible.
